Easy poses for photos of yourself

Short answerShift your weight onto one leg, give your hands something to do, angle your body slightly away from the camera, and move between shots instead of freezing. Burst or several timer rounds help you catch a natural one.
Standing
- Weight on your back leg, front knee relaxed.
- Body at an angle, face turned to the camera.
- Hands in pockets, on a strap, or holding a coffee.
Sitting
- Sit forward on the edge of the seat; slumping shortens your body.
- Cross your ankles or knees.
- Lean an elbow on a knee or table.
Walking
Set a long timer or burst, walk slowly towards or across the frame, and look ahead rather than at the lens.
Make it natural
Move a little between each shot: laugh, look away, adjust your jacket. The in-between moments often look best.
Questions
How do I know when the photo is taken?
Watch for the timer flash, or use burst so timing matters less.
